Bach-Kim Lam, a beacon of love, strength, and selflessness, passed away on September 7, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will forever shine in our hearts. Born on March 18, 1940, in Long Dien, Vietnam, she was the cherished daughter of Dien Thanh Lam and Thanh Thi Nguyen.
Bach-Kim's quest for knowledge led her to public schools in Vietnam and culminated in a bachelor's degree from the University of Saigon. Her commitment to education would become a guiding light in her own family's life.
In 1975, Bach-Kim embarked on a life-altering journey to the United States as a refugee, alongside her husband and his family. Her tireless work ethic and boundless love were immediately evident. She often put her own needs aside, dedicating herself to the betterment of her children and her husband's family.
Her heart, however, remained deeply connected to her family members in Saigon. Fueled by her concern for their well-being, Bach-Kim worked relentlessly to reunite them with her in the United States. Through her unwavering determination, she sent both money and essential goods back to her homeland, making it possible for her loved ones to join her on American soil.
In Los Angeles, Bach-Kim achieved remarkable success as a businesswoman, owning and managing pharmacies within the Asian communities. Her businesses not only prospered but also served as a lifeline, providing essential financial support to her family members in Vietnam.
Above all, Bach-Kim Lam was a loving mother who instilled in her children the values of self-discipline, reverence for their Vietnamese heritage, and the paramount importance of education. Her unwavering support propelled her children to achieve remarkable success in their own right.
She cared deeply about how the world would perceive her children, imparting to them the virtues of discipline, honor, integrity, and character. Her lessons have not only shaped their lives but also continue to influence generations to come.
Bach-Kim Lam is survived by her loving children: Loc Huu Nguyen, Kim Oanh Nguyen, and An Nam Nguyen, along with their respective spouses. Her memory is also cherished by her adoring grandchildren: Nguyen Huu Ninh, The Vinh Phan, The Quang Phan, Abel De La Rosa, Brandon Nam Nguyen, Riley Nguyen, and Vaughn Nguyen.
As we bid farewell to Bach-Kim, we remember her as a loving mother, a resilient refugee who built a new life for her family, and a woman whose legacy of love and dedication will forever inspire us all. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of those whose lives she touched.
