Born July 24, 1961 to parents August and Beverly (Kroetsch) Clous, Paul grew up in the Traverse City area and enjoyed everything the region had to offer. As a young man, he helped his dad build a house on the Duck Lake Peninsula and took full advantage of the amenities by water skiing, fishing, camping (from the comfort of a cabin) and developed a passion for the relaxation of campfires that would be a source of comfort to him for life.
Paul attended St. Francis High School where he met - and became inseparable from - Jolene Larson. Although he graduated in 1979, their engagement lasted ten years. That period was no doubt the cause of the endearing teasing the couple weathered when they announced their wedding would take place on April fool’s day, 1989. While engaged, Paul attended Rets Electronic Institute in Grand Rapids; however, when he learned that jobs in that industry would take him from his beloved Northern Michigan life, he went home and worked as a Kitchen Manager at Interlochen Center for the Arts until his passing.
Jolene, who loved him with all her heart and soul, and son, Curtis, will remember Paul as a kind, gentle man with a huge heart who gave the best hugs. Paul is also survived by his mother, Beverly; his siblings, James, Alan, Jean and Thomas and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, August.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 9 from 5-8 followed by a funeral service the next day, Friday, July 10 at 1:00, officiated by Pastor Chris Lane, at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. Interment will immediately follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are entrusted to Covell Funeral Home, Traverse City.
