Charles K. Leech, age 95, of Traverse City, MI. and formerly of Eastport, passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2020 at Munson Medical Center. Charles was born in Detroit, MI. on Dec. 9, 1924 where he graduated from high school and went on to graduate from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY with a Bachelor of Science degree. Upon graduation in 1947, he served in the Army Air Corp, subsequently the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed at many bases in the U.S. and abroad during this time. He resigned the military service in 1953 and entered the sales and marketing business which he enjoyed for the balance of his business career.
Charles was a member of the U.S. Military Academy Association, the Saladin Shriners, and enjoyed reading, playing cards, gardening, boating, and anything outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris (Thompson) and his daughters, Pamela (Jay) Putnam of Southgate; Nancy (William Clopton) Leech of E. Palo Alto, CA; sons Charles Jr. of San Francisco, CA; Jonathan (Ben Valdez) Leech of Santa Barbara, CA; Sister in law Joan Leech of Eastport, brother and sister in law Loyd (Hilda) Thompson of Rochester, NY, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Virgil and Mary Leech of Detroit, he is preceded in death by a brother Ransom Leech, and previous wives Ramah Wade and Jane Ingram.
