Reed Slickelman, Mary Ann, a 58 year resident of Redondo Beach, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the age of 80. Born and raised in Bonner Springs, Kansas, she graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1947. Mary Ann was a devoted mother to seven children and adored by her 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and cooking for them all. Mary Ann was a longtime member of the First United Spiritualist Church and gave generously to many charities. She was an avid reader and loved to play cards and dice. She was a friend to many.
Mary Ann is survived by daughters, Renee Melancon of Virginia City, NV and Cat Reed of Lawndale, CA; and sons, Louie Reed of New Port Richey, FL, Rick Reed of Winnemucca, NV and Tom Slickelman of Upland, CA. She was preceded in death by parents, Nora and Ross James and sons Slick and Willie.
A gathering of family & friends will be held at White & Day Colonial Mortuary on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. The Graveside Service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes at 2:00 pm.
