Ann was born on November 15, 1926 in the Bronx, New York to Ella and Frank Severini. She was the oldest of five children. Ann had two sisters, Betty and Violet, and two brothers, Anthony and Frank.
Ann graduated from Walton Girls’ High School. She studied voice and opera as a young lady, before meeting and marrying Warren McDermott. After marrying, Ann and Warren left the city with their first-born and moved out to the country to Carmel, New York. They made many lifelong friends in Carmel and fondly remembered their time there. In 1966, they moved to Palos Verdes and remained in their home for 55 years. Ann and Warren have six children: Veronica Brown (Martin), Bill McDermott (Christine), Janice McDermott (deceased), Arlene Dugan (Rick), Elizabeth McDermott, and Tom McDermott (Anne-Marie). They also have 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Ann and Warren recently celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary.
Ann was very creative and had many interests and talents, including: singing, playing guitar, painting, sewing, knitting, baking, and cooking. However, her passions were singing and family. She loved opera and had a deep appreciation for Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli and passed her love of music on to her children and grandchildren. Even more, Ann loved her family. She welcomed her children, grandchildren, family and friends into her home to enjoy a delicious, authentic Italian meal, converse, laugh, and play music or play poker. One of Ann's greatest attributes was her hospitality.
