William (Bud) Walter Hopkins passed peacefully at Chester Village on Oct 23rd 2024.
Born in Toronto on Mar 09 1925, Bud apprenticed as a machinist before enlisting in the Canadian Army and serving overseas during WW2. He married Orma Small of Fergus, Ontario on Nov 25 1950. Bud joined the Postal Service and served as both postal worker and supervisor. He delivered mail to the Toronto Island community when winter crossings needed an ice breaker. His favourite routes included the Mr. Christie plant and Laura Secord factory. There was never a shortage of sweet things in his life.
A father to four; Linda, Thom, Arline and Deborrah. Bud raised his family with an appreciation for the importance of family, hard work, outdoor activities and epic Bad Dad jokes. Bud volunteered for over 25 years at Yonge Street Mission and Nisbet Lodge. Kind, generous and steadfast, any who knew him were the better for it.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to Yonge Street Mission or the Children’s Wish Foundation.
The family will be having a private Service at Giffen Mack and Trull Funeral Home
