Ubaldo Italo Matrundola, age 83, of Toronto, Ontario passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2024 following a long battle with Lewy-body Dementia with his family at his side. Ubaldo was born in Cervaro, Italy.
He was predeceased by his wife Elsa, his parents Marco and Maria, and his sisters Antonietta, Genoveffa, and Nicolina.
He will be deeply missed by his children Marc (Kristina) and Cory (Laura), his grandchildren Rocco, Leo, Mia, and Massimo. He will also be missed by his sisters Maria (Ennio), Iolanda (the late Aldo), and Giuseppina (Domenico), along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Ubaldo was a barber at Pat's Barber Shop for many years, building lifelong friendships through his work. He worked multiple jobs to help support his family and instilled his value in his sons. He was an avid Formula 1 fan and loved cars and music. He was known to ride his bike through the borough of North York, keeping active throughout most of his life.
The family would express their deep thanks for the care he received from his family physician Dr. Chung, his live-in caregiver Armi, the many nurses and PSWs who helped support his healthcare needs. A special thanks to family and friends who would come to keep Italo company as his health declined.
Visitation for Ubaldo will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 6191 Yonge Street, Toronto. Funeral Mass will occur Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 9:30 AM at St. Paschal Baylon Church, 92 Steeles Ave West, Thornhill. Committal service will occur following Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill, ON L3T 2C7.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be consider in Italo's memory to the Alzheimer's Society.
