Shiu King Kong, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep, at the age of 90, with family by his side on April 14, 2022. He is survived by his wife Sylvia Sun Wah; his children Elaine (Gary), Carrie (Peter) and Vincent (Cindy) and his grandchildren Jocelyn, Matthew, Jordan, Taylor, Avery and Lauren. He is also survived by his brother Kong Shiu Loon.
Shiu King was born in Hong Kong and came to Canada in 1960. He graduated from the University of Ottawa, University of Toronto and Queen's University. He had a long and distinguished career. Much of his time was devoted to his true calling of helping new immigrants settle in Canada. His dedicated service continued long after his retirement and his significant contributions to the local community garnered him many notable civic awards such as the Queen Elizabeth II Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals and the commemorative medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada.
Shiu King loved to travel and especially enjoyed cruises. He could often be found at the buffet or lounging on the sun deck. He sailed to all corners of the world with Sylvia Sun Wah and often, his children and grandchildren joined them in their adventures. He and the family enjoyed many happy times together.
Shiu King was much loved and blessed by his many family and friends. He remains deep in our hearts and will be sadly missed.
