So sorry to hear of Sheila's passing. She was a real standup person who fought hard for all students. I was fortunate enough to work with her for a short period of time and benefitted greatly from the experience. God rest!

I will miss Sheila so much. I first met Sheila when I was a teacher at Glen Ames and she and her family landed in the school and the neighbourhood quickly getting involved in the School Council and then more broadly in education. I always remember Sheila's long red hair from those days. As Sheila got involved in education politics  we stayed connected , as friends as well. In later years her commitment to Inner City Education brought her and I  working together again. Her passion and determination to resource those schools and communities most in need was unwavering.  Sheila loved to do breakfasts on Queen and I was happy to join her. The corner of Williamson and Wineva always brought thoughts of Sheila and the ladybug car told me she was home. Given the pandemic I did not realize what it meant to have the car always there and that Sheila was so ill. Sheila and my mother were great political allies and my daughter Krista when little always remembered getting to pass Sheila her presents at her wedding party. I'm sorry I missed your last months Sheila but so glad to have had the years we had .Love and condolences to Sean, Michael, Margaret , Kate and grandchildren.   Margaret McIntosh

My sincere condolences to Sheila’s friends and family. I had the privilege of working with Sheila when she was Trustee and I was the program coordinator of Model Schools. To say that she engaged in “good trouble” would be accurate. It was always a lively meeting with Sheila in attendance! She did not accept no when she was fighting for better for kids. I appreciated her spunk and her fire for justice. What a beautiful legacy she has left! Rest In Peace and Power. - Alison Rutherford, TDSB
