Sharon was a most remarkable woman and sister-in-law. I loved her dearly with her laughing spirit, kindness, and generosity. Over a glass of wine, I would share stories of growing up with Philip. Oh, my, how we laughed. Tears rolling down faces. I can hear her laughter now and I smile. To Geoff and Katie, I know you understand how special your mother was. She certainly knew and spoke about how wonderful you two were as children and young adults. Philip, she loved you so much and spoke so highly of your accomplishment. I love you all. Auntie Barbara

I was fortunate to begin my studies in  nutrition under Dr. Parker in 2001 at the University of Toronto. I was an undergraduate student at the time, and her passion for multicultural aspects of nutrition ignited something within me to pursue Dietetics and ultimately a Master of Health Sciences degree (in Community Nutrition at the U of T). I remember Dr. Parker as a gracious and intelligent educator, thinking broadly within and beyond our own borders to consider nutrition standards and situations both at home and worldwide. She was humble as a Professor at the world renowned University of Toronto and so approachable. Hers will always be a class I will remember. I am so sorry for your loss.

Fred and I only learned of Sharon's passing today and were shocked to say the least.  Our dog Max knew Winston when they were both pupplies and Sharon and I couldn't keep their tangled leashes apart when we met on the street.  I have memories of Sharon running by our house on dark, cold winter mornings and thinking with great admiration "how can she do this."   Sharon, you were such a nice person and you will be missed. My deepest condolences to Sharon's family. I first met Sharon on a tennis court during a winter season but got to know her much better while I was a member at Gwendolen Tennis Club. There, her name always appeared on volunteer sign-up sheets for different events even though she already had much on her plate as House League Director. Her special qualities were her warmth, patience, dignity, caring manner, and curiosity about the world. Sitting on the bench beside Court 1, Sharon often shared with me her wonder at travelling to distant places with her family and the new things she had learned. Beneath her quiet manner, she had quite a sense of humor, and we enjoyed many laughs together. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

I am so sorry and saddened to hear about your loss. I knew Sharon from the tennis club and she was an amazing woman, always with a smile and so committed to the club and the members. My deepest sympathy to you all.

My sincerest condolences to Sharon's family and friends. I met Sharon at Gwendolen Park Tennis Club 10 years ago - she was one of the first people I met. She was also both my Captain and House League director. She was a very kind person, approachable and always accommodating. She finally persuaded me to become a captain 4-years ago and I have tried to work as hard at it as she did. I will miss her greatly.

Sharon will be truly missed.  I've been a volunteer at Gwendolen Park TC for several years and whenever I ran into Sharon...I have always been met with a kind, patient, and cheerful person that made me smile.  My deepest condolences to Sharon's family.  Her passing is a great loss for all she encountered in her life.

I know Sharon from the tennis club where she played and volunteered.  Sharon was a very thoughtful and soft-spoken person who took her responsibilities at the club very seriously.  As house league director, she spent a lot of time at the club making sure things went smoothly...coming early before the league started and leaving late after the league ended.  She did this even when she was nursing a sore shoulder and taking a break from playing tennis herself.  Sharon was also a key organizer for the beginner round robin social.  Her desire to ensure these members had an activity that they could participate in reflected her caring spirit.  Sharon will be sorely missed by everyone at the club.  Our sincerest condolences to her family.

Literally the first person I met when I joined Gwendolen Tennis a few years ago was Sharon.  We teamed up for some friendly doubles as I recall. I think we beat the other team! Lots of fun. She was a really nice person. May she rest in peace!!

Sharon was such a special person and I have many fond memories of her from my childhood. Think of you all during this time.

I felt very sad of learning of Sharon's death. We worked together many years, Sharon being my PhD student at the University of Toronto.
