Rita and I met at Thomas Cook. We became good friends and have been so for the past 30+ years. She would regularly visit me at Roxy Blu or the Drake on her nights out. After my move to the US west coast we actually became closer friends. She would insist on getting together each time I came to town, and would even shift her plans to get together. I guess absence does make the heart grow fonder…that is true friendship. That is who Rita is for all of us: a true friend. I will miss her smile, her vivacious zest for life and her cutting, tell-it-like-it-is expletive filled manner! Her passing has left an emptiness in its wake… If I have learned one thing from Rita it is this: Joie de Vivre…thank you Rita. You have touched us all and are forever in our hearts.

We met when we agreed to share a cottage and attend Mandy Davidson’s 50th birthday at the famous Farmhouse.  Thanks Mandy!   We clicked immediately and became fast friends.  We spent hundreds of hours strolling the streets and parks and having big dinners in tiny groups through the pandemic.  We laughed, we danced, we lived.  Frequently, when Reets was in chemo during her battle, we spent a days just laying on my couch, getting through it, giggling softly or yelling at reality tv shows.  It was a hard time, but sweet Reets got through it with such calm strength and grace.  I learned so much from her and will cherish every memory for my lifetime.  ‘Til we dance and laugh again, sweet friend.  See you in Heaven.

I will miss you my sweet friend.  We had so many great times when you lived in Rochester....  I never forget you.  Rest easy till we meet again.. ❤️

For me Rita was like the sister I never had.  I still remember the night we met, in an elevator at a house warming party probably about 15 years ago. So many memories since then. Rita was fearless and forever curious about people and believed in living life to the fullest. She's was that one special friend who made the effort .... when others wouldn't necessarily have. Love you always sweet Reets. Always in our hearts · Always on my mind, forever in my heart..... your little hummingbird.

Wherever a beautiful soul has been there is a trail of beautiful memories.

We had a small group from Equifax that remained close after all the years. And she was a blast…she could take joke and dish them back at ya without flinching. 
Absolutely the best.

So many memories…a long beautiful journey together that started with a Flame and ended with Champagne and so much love and laughter in between.  A part of our family has grown wings to watch over us as we continue our journey.

Rita was the light that visitors were greeted with when they entered the 
corporate offices of Thomas Cook in downtown Toronto in the early 90s. Our friendship lasted 30+ years. This photo was taken at her 50th birthday party. Beautiful. 

Rita and the Marino family were the best neighbours anyone can wish for and we are blessed with wonderful memories from childhood to adulthood. I would like to give Connie & Angelo and the family my sincere condolences for their loss.

Thank you for showing us how to live a life well lived Rita.  Your warm heart and beautiful smile will stay with us always.

Rita was a great friend to many and holds a special place in the heart of the Sousa family. For over 40 years she was Vincenza’s best friend and the two were inseparable. She will be missed at all the backyard celebrations.

It so sad to see a very young spirited individual like Rita pass away. We will always remember her dressed to the “nines” at every party she attended, whether it was for a child or an adult.
