He was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica on June 26, 1939. Son of the Late Joseph and Alice Powell. Predeceased by his brothers Alton and Clarence Powell, leaving remaining brother Oswald and sister Ivy Powell.
Mr. Powell is known for his tender heart, infectious smile and strength, he was a loving Husband, Father, grandfather and dear friend. He was a man of kindness, His generosity and infectious spirit touched the lives of many he met. He was a giver to anyone he came in contact with. He didn’t need to know a lot about you to share with you his ground provisions. He was a family man not only to his immediate family but also to the community where he lived. Above all, he was a fervent and dedicated Christian, who laboured for the Lord until the day he departed this earth. He found joy and solace in his family knowing that they had a personal relationship with God. His generous spirit endeared to all who knew him. He always imparted an encouraging and welcoming smile to everyone he met or shared his presence with. He worked hard so his family had a decent life and he had no regrets doing so.
His absence leaves an aching void in our hearts, but his spirit lives in the cherished memories we hold dear. He is survived by his loving spouse of sixty one years (61) Vashti, this union produced three daughters, Cheryl, Karen and Marion and by extension three sons in law Frederick (Deceased), Patrick and John. Four grandsons Hugh, Jahnoy, Johnlajorn and Timothy and Two great grandchildren, Kassidy and Taejorn. His quiet but strong personality and love of shoes and clothing were evident in his impeccable style.
Ridley was the heart and soul of his family and the community where he lived for many years. He was a devoted and God fearing Christian /amazing husband, incredible and strict dad and grandfather and a softer version of himself for his two great grandchildren. His life was marked by patriotism an unwavering dedication to his family. He embraced his role as a father with boundless love and care; always putting his children’s well-being above all else. His spirit and guidance helped shape their lives, and his legacy will forever remain in their hearts.

A visitation for Ridley will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 1920 Notion Rd, Pickering, ON L1V 2G3. A funeral service to follow in the Chapel from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. A burial will occur at Duffin Meadows Cemetery, 2505 Brock Rd N, Pickering, ON L1X 0K3.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ridley's memory may be made to the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Pickering.
