Phyllis was born in Toronto on December 18, 1942, to Madeleine (Billie) and Hugh Hougham. She loved to play guitar, eventually playing and singing in local venues. Phyllis attended teachers college and adventured north to the NWT and YT to teach English in the northern indigenous schools. She eventually moved back to Ontario with her family. Around age 50 Phyllis went back to school to become a registered nurse (like her grandmother) and then ventured south to Texas to work for many years. Recent years were spent in Toronto with her family and extended family. Phyllis was an avid reader, volunteer in her church and community, swimmer (she took up scuba diving in her 50's!) and a loving and compassionate person. She leaves behind her husband of 16 years Alex Anderson, children Kathleen (John), David (Lisa) and grandchildren Michael, Madeleine, Matthew, and Alexander as well as her extended family.
Funeral services to be held at St John's Presbyterian Church on Monday April 28, 2025, at 11am.
