Dear Cavanagh Family:  My deepest condolences to all of Peter's family, both here in Canada and as well in Scotland.

Peter and I met for the first time back in 1977 when I was assigned to the same police station that Peter was working out of in North York (3 Traffic).

We shared many a coffee together during those time and after that, we met up together at various other locations where he worked.

I always enjoyed sharing time with Peter and he will be sadly missed.

Dear Cavanagh Family,

My deepest condolences at this most difficult time.  I just want to share a quick thought/memory, as it has left a lasting impression.  I was just a rookie police officer starting at the Central Traffic Unit of the T.P.S.  Being young and impressionable, I had always noticed that Peter would always be doing funeral escort pay duties on a motorcycle, in the middle of the winter. Finally one day he had just returned from doing a funeral escort, and he looked frozen. I built up the courage to ask him as to why he does them and subject himself to such harsh weather conditions. He very polity & calmly said that he is putting his son through university and once his son graduates, he will not have to do them any longer. He sounded very proud when talking about his son attending university, as he elaborated as to what he was taking in university. Now that I'm a 30 veteran, with 3 sons of my own in university, I find myself in the same place as Peter was.  I just thought this story was important to not share just with the family, but more importantly for his son to know the hard work & sacrifice Peter made for the entire family, as he was a hard worker.
