It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Michael Francis Nestor. Born in Cloonfane, Co. Galway, Ireland on October 16, 1926, he arrived in Toronto in 1949. He started working for the TTC almost immediately after. He spent 40 years as an employee and 37 years as a retiree. The only pay cheque he ever knew in Canada.
He was a humble man who lived a humble life. Hard work and a good meal were the currency of his life. He was thrilled to live long enough to see the next three generations of his famiy.
He is predeceased by his wife Frances and elder son Tony (Kathy) and survived by sons Michael (Janice) and John. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sean (Jeanie) and Sarah (Michael) along with great grandchildren Logan, Kiera, Harper and Gordon.
Visitation will be Thursday June 20th from 6-8 pm at Jerrett’s Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge St at Madawaska. The funeral service will be in the same place on Friday June 21st from 11am to 12pm. Lunch will be served immediately after. Private interment will occur subsequently.
We would like to acknowledge the care that was provided to him at North York General and Sunnybrook Hospitals. In lieu of flowers, we would welcome donations to the Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program at Sunnybrook.
