June 3, 1955 – March 29, 2013
Passed away peacefully, with family and friends at her side, at Sunnybrook Hospital, on March 29, 2013. Beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth. Maureen is survived by her loving sister Monica and brothers Ken, John and Patrick. Survived by sisters-in-law Marie, Joanne and Terry and Luc Sohier, partner of Monica. Cherished Aunt of Renee, Jason, Jean-Philippe, Sean and Fiona. Blessed with uncompromising kindness, compassion for others and a wonderful sense of humor, Maureen always put others before herself. She loved her family and friends deeply and celebrated her close relationships. Maureen cared passionately about her family’s past and future. She became an avid genealogist and, together with sister Monica, built the remarkable Madden family tree. She cared greatly for her nieces and nephews and “Auntie Moe” always listened, without judgment. Maureen battled adversity with a calm resolve. Earlier in her life, she beat a rare cancer, then carried on with life and her career at the TD Bank, through a severe vision impairment. Through this and her health trials of the past months, she never complained. In pain and weakness, she always found a smile for us. The smile we will remember.
