From the day she was born, even with a rare heart condition that required her to have three open heart surgeries, Matilda was a ray of sunlight. A light so bright that even in death her light illuminates our hearts. Loving daughter of Kamil and Ivette who were not only her parents but also her advocates. Adored little sister to Leanne, Karen, Laura and Joey, who would sing and entertain her each and every day. Matilda loved music and rocking back and forth when her favorite song of Happy Birthday, wheels on the bus or twinkle twinkle little star was being sung to her. Her smile would light up a room, she would look at you in the eye and then smile that would melt your heart.
Matilda fought hard each and every surgery or any of the many viruses she contacted to get back home to her family. There were months she stayed in the hospital and all the nurses and staff would come by just to see her sweet smile.
She loved car rides and going for walks, and she would clap with excitement when her honorary grandmother Amaly and aunt Christina would come outside to play and hold her. She would look out the window each day waiting for Aunt Christina to come and see her when she returned from work. She also loved when her friend Cheryl who would read to her or play with her when she came for a visit.
Matilda was a sunshine, warrior and a hero. But on November 4th her body couldn’t fight anymore. Her final and only word she would say was “mamma”. She was a blessing to her parents and all who met her. Her innocence was pure, and her memory will be honoured endlessly by many who knew her, as well as those who did not. She was an angel on earth and now an angel in heaven with her family who passed on before. She has left a hole in many of our hearts but also, we have many memories of our short time together. Rest in eternal peace our angel Matilda, we will miss you and remember you always. Until we meet again sweet Maltida…
