Lydia Olga Bzowej, 57, of Pickering, Ontario, passed away on Tuesday May 17th, 2022 after a 2 year, courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
Lydia was born on August 29th, 1964 to Adelaide and Boris Bzowej in Toronto. After graduating from Thornhill Secondary School in 1983, she went on to obtain her BA at the University of Toronto. Lydia started working for Polson Bourbonniere Derby in 1997. She gained her Certified Financial Planner® designation in 1999 and worked there until ill health forced an early retirement in 2021.
Throughout her years at PBD she developed wonderful relationships with her clients who continued to ask after her daily, even after her departure. She was highly regarded by all: a shining example of the very best – displaying integrity, empathy, professionalism and an unswerving focus on putting clients first.
While Lydia was taken too soon, we can take comfort in the fact that she lived life to the fullest. She was elegant and stylish, taking in concerts and theatre with close friends. She had a ready laugh, loved to read and was often immersed deeply in a novel while enjoying a glass of white wine and music in the background. She meticulously planned her trips in detail - whether a road trip or a sojourn overseas. Her years were filled with other delights too: pedicures and scrapbooking.
Lydia’s most exciting and fulfilling trip was in 2003, when she braved the frozen landscapes of Siberia to bring home the daughter she cherished, Katya. Lydia was predeceased by her mother, Adelaide and father, Boris Bzowej. She is survived by her daughter Katya, sister Natalie and brother Eugene, niece Larissa and nephew Nikolai, brother-in-law Vivek Huilgol, aunt Oresta Tkaczuk, and cousins Lydia, Roman, George and Irka Tkaczuk.
