I am shocked and sad to hear about the passing of Uncle . Growing up with Shalini,  visiting her home in Cuffe Parade or joining them at USS club , her parents were always very affectionate and welcoming . I have fond memories of Uncle and remember his kind and distinguished face clearly, even though it has been several years . My deepest condolences and prayers to Aunty , Shalini and Kiku during this very difficult time.





There will be only one Baby uncle for me!
His charisma, character, and commitment  was always something to aspire to. 

My mom always looked upon him as a source of joy and care ever since she was born. He never let up on his playful side with us cousins, often asking me for my comic book collection. Most importantly, I will always cherish the support he gave my parents, especially my Mom (Umi bua).

has left all of us for his Heavenly abode to be with God and all our loved ones who are already in Heaven.
Uncle Lalit has just changed his residence from his Earthly Home now to his Heavenly Home.
Uncle Lalit is also with our Mother Carol & Father Anthony & also Eunice de Dsouza also in Heaven.
100% sure Uncle Lalit will be with all of you in Spirit looking down from Heaven above.
Mass was offered to pray for the soul of Cdr. Lokendra Kumar Sharma (Uncle Lalit) today Thursday 25th August 2022 at 6.30pm here at St. Francis Xavier Chapel
(Blessed Sacrament Chapel) here in Colaba same date as Funeral Ceremony in Canada.
Our Community No. 9 Our Lady of Immaculate Conception members came and prayed for the soul of Cdr. Lokendra Kumar Sharma (Lalit).

Have also offered a 7th Day Mass for Saturday 27th August 2022 at 6.30pm  at Cathedral of the Holy Name to pray for the soul of Uncle  so that Parishioners of Cathedral of the Holy Name who could not come today, can come.

Eternal rest grant unto the soul of Uncle
Cdr. Lokendra Kumar Sharma (Lalit) O Lord and let thy perpetual light shine upon him and may his soul rest in peace. Amen.

Sharma uncle, Shirley aunty, 1989…
I met Shalini at Xavier’s College while spending a term abroad while I was an undergraduate at the University of Chicago. I was glad to be away from the confines of ‘home,’ away from Bangalore and Chicago. In Bombay I found a world that was rich in friendships, ideas, and imagination. 

Those Bombay relationships were more intense than any I had experienced, and the Sharmas—and that Cuffe Parade apartment- are vivid in my mind, unforgettable.

Shalini brought me fully into her life, and shared her family me. In turn, her parents welcomed me without reserve in an act of loving generosity that made a stranger into kin.

Aunty and uncle were a handsome couple, quite beautiful really, each distinct in their individuality. 

It is hard for me to recall Sharma uncle without Shirley Aunty’s presence. Or to see him outside the mind’s eye of an impressionable twenty year old. Uncle’s impeccable manners, his dignity, and his uprightness are etched in my memory.

I lost touch and I so I failed to see uncle age, and grow older.  It is unbelievable that he is gone. 

Thinking about him reminds me of what he and aunty gave me— love, warmth, and generosity.

He was the officer incharge of the Basic training school when I joined the Indian Navy in 1973. One of the finest officers the Indian Navy has produced. Very helpful friendly guide. We kept in touch all these years and I was very fond of him. Spoke to him a few days before he went
 to the lord. Sir I will miss you💐🌹❤️🙏

Lalit was the kindest of hosts, willing to give his time and attention all of the time I was visiting my cousin, Shirley, and him in Mumbai in 2007. 
He was a gentle and loving man and, I’m sure, a fine naval officer. He will, indeed, be forever cherished and missed by all who knew him.

We are shocked and very sad to hear about Cdr. He was a thorough gentleman and always helpful to us.  May his soul rest in peace and may God give you all the strength to bear the loss.

I got a glimpse of Cdr Sharma through the eyes of someone who knew him best, his wife Shirley. She was sharing in a small group of Catholic women in interfaith families. 
Two of her memories stand out for me and say volumes about the kind of man he was:
1. My husband was a man of honour who would never make a promise he could not keep. 
2. My mother loved him like a son. She gave him her rosary which he treasured. 

My dearest Shirley,  Kitu, Kuku & family, words cannot express how saddened I am at your great loss. Lalit was a gentleman, one of a kind. I will always remember him with fond memories. May his soul rest in peace.
