Having just recently learned of Lloyd's passing I want to extend my deepest sympathies to his loved ones and to share my memories. I first met Lloyd in the early seventies when I took my first Outdoor Education Course at North York's Forest Valley.  His love and knowledge of all things nature were inspirational along with his just knowing that outdoor experiences for everyone were an invaluable motivation for further learning. To this day, when I'm out enjoying my nature walks, trying to identify trees, wild flowers and all things flora and fauna, I think of Lloyd. I regret not sharing this with him in later years when singing with the North York Cabaret Singers. I will always remember Lloyd's kind and caring ways, his twinkling eyes and Cabaret rehearsals in the Lloyd Fraser Room at our annual weekend retreats at Mono Cliffs.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to Ruth and Loved ones of Lloyd.  Lloyd was a very integral part of Trinity's choir and church family and will be truly missed.  Our church events will not be the same without him.  God rests his soul!

Lloyd was the "gentle giant" in North York and beyond.  His broad smile and the twinkle in his eyes were captivating.  His hilarious solos in Cabaret were wonderful.  He will continue to entertain eternally.

Midnight hikes through the dark woods of Mono Cliffs; a candlelit driveway and fireside discussions at the DGH; sharing 5050 with hundreds of students at the Periwinkle environmental fairs.   These are some of the warm memories we shared with Lloyd in North York's Periwinkle Environmental group over the past 30 years.   We will miss his leadership, support, inspiration and most of all his friendship.   Our deepest sympathies go to Ruth and family at their loss.

I was sorry to hear of Lloyd's passing. I have a great deal of respect for a wonderful pioneer of Outdoor Education. Thanks to Lloyd, many 'inner city' kids got to experience outdoor education whether they could pay the full ticket or not! In later years, I had the pleasure of singing with Lloyd in the NY Cabaret. Another good experience. My sympathies to the family.

Lloyd's slow grin and twinkling eyes will remain as an indelible image of this fine and decent man.
One can only imagine what he's creating in the universe's biggest outdoor education centre: heaven.

Anyone who had the chance to meet Llyod Fraser knows exactly why his lifetime of teaching blessed so many with a wealth of information about the world in which we live and lives on and dwells within so many of us..

The passing of Lloyd Fraser, Outdoor Educator, has saddened me greatly.  He has left me with so many happy memories, the first being the interview in the trailer at Mono Cliffs, all the Outdoor Education events he inspired,  all the children and adults he influenced, me especially. His quiet gentle manner and his love of the outdoors reminded me of my father. I had the privilege of being one of the original staff at Mono Cliffs to help Lloyd's dream materialize into a destination all children in North York wanted to come to.  I will truly miss him. it was a privilege to know Lloyd. I am very fortunate that Lloyd hired me to be a part of and look after his dream of Mono Cliffs Outdoor Ed Centre. I will miss his little stories whenever he came to check on his dream.

I count myself very fortunate to have met and worked for Lloyd when I got the opportunity to be on staff at Mono Cliffs OEC, a place he had the vision and the talent to bring into being.
I am flooded with both sentimental thoughts and good memories of my time there with him and friends made, and of every occasion I spent with him in the intervening years.
It is only so because of Lloyds truly winsome ways and his ability to draw so many terrific people towards him.
A great Man with an uncommon touch to meet all who crossed his path, where they were, with kindness and the unselfish decency to do what he could to champion a worthy cause as well as those around he was able to.
His passing is sad news but I look forward to joining with others he also meant so much to, in commemoration and celebration of his life.

Lloyd cleared the way for my first job in outdoor education in North York and then I had the privilege to be part of the team for the opening of Mono Cliffs - the jewel in the crown. I was always inspired at how a gentle soul could make so much happen. The place always had a special buzz about it whenever Lloyd was there, even after retirement. He is someone who has truly left a powerful legacy.

As a fellow outdoor educator since the 1960's, it was my privilege to have known this gentle and talented man.  He was a visionary in the field.  His professional talents were manifest in the North York outdoor education program, the creation of the Council of Otdoor Educators of Ontario and in guiding the construction of the Mono Cliffs centre.  Fire and water, earth and sky were his inspiration, the students the beneficiaries of his leadership.  Yet he never lost his gentle manner, or quiet sense of humour.

He made a difference and he will be missed.

Lloyd Fraser was very encouraging to me early in my outdoor education career.  

His wisdom and insight was most valuable through each conversation I had with him at COEO Fall and Make Peace with Winter Conferences. His gentle leadership style, brilliant ideas and legacy has positively impacted the North York Board of Education, COEO:Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario and youth of Ontario.

I first met Lloyd 1962 at Bayview Jr High.He got me excited about Outdoor Education And Cabaret Singing.I never got to thank him for his influence on my career and life...I share sadness with Ruth and Family at this time

A fellow outdoor educator from the 1960's on till retirement, I came to know Lloyd as a visionary.  His commitment to the field was manifest in the North York program,  the founding of the Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario and the iconic Mono Cliffs school.  Earth Air, Fire and Water, these were the elements that inspired his vision.  Students were the the beneficiaries.

He made a difference in so many ways.  He will be missed

It started in the Board Room and came to fruition up at Mono Cliffs. Lloyd's love of the outdoors was infectious. His contribution to Outdoor Education benefitted innumerable students over the years.
Ever the outdoorsman and teacher, at the IDEA conferences Lloyd took us on nature walks in the crisp cool mornings. In the evenings, he was always ready to 'let down his hair' and performed in many skits. I have fond memories of the times we spent together.

Working with Lloyd was a special treat not only for teachers but students. He  contributed much to the understanding of nature and the outdoors. How fortunate we all are to have known him.

A true Gentle Man, Lloyd was loved by all his colleague friends in the former North York. We loved singing with him in Cabaret - he was so talented and calm. He faithfully attended our Retreads (NY Retired educators) luncheons. He will be sorely missed.

I knew Lloyd for many years although our paths seldom crossed since our respective retirements. He had a grand vision for outdoor education and went quietly about achieving it, making the North York Board of Education a leader in the field. He was a model and a mentor to many. His influence will continue.

I am saddened to hear of Lloyd's passing. He was one of the finest gentlemen, colleagues, and educators I had the pleasure of knowing. I will always remember  his smile and  pleasant demeanor.  I extend my deepest condolences to Ruth and all the Fraser family.      Glen Wood
