After only meeting Lisa one time I recognized how interesting and humorous she was, a very remarkable lady!  The Celebration of Life service was lovely and heartfelt.  Take good care of yourself Colleen.  I am looking forward to seeing you again and sharing more memories of Lisa and our family stories.  Peace and Respect to Lisa and you.

Dear Colleen, I send you my heartfelt condolences.  I met Lisa on your retirement day when she came by the office with a bagpiper to escort you out in style!!  I can see from reading these memories, that was just glimpse of her humour, passion and deep love for you.

My deepest condolences to Colleen and all of Lisa's loved ones.  I had the honour of working with Lisa for some years with Museum and Heritage Services and along with Carrie we were a formidable team in Site Ops!  We continued to be great friends even after we no longer worked in the same unit.  Lisa was such a smart, creative and talented person - and at times (many!) also hysterically funny.  She had a wonderful way of looking at life and people with great understanding, and deep caring and empathy and also with humour.  She would light up any gathering and was always interested in what you were doing and how you were feeling.  She literally was "the best".  We'll miss you and remember you always Lisa...rest in peace. 

My deepest condolences and prayers to Colleen and Lisa's family and friends. I am blessed and most fortunate to have Colleen and Lisa in my life, and to be taken under their gentle wings. I met Lisa through Colleen whom I met and befriended through Boston Terrier Rescue Canada. Colleen is a very special lady so I knew I would take an immediate shine to Lisa. That's an understatement; Upon meeting Lisa I felt like I had  known her my whole life. Lisa and Colleen have been the most wonderful of friends to me and have opened their hearts and home to me, and many others.

Lisa was a renaissance woman with gifts aplenty,  a big heart and she was a truth teller—a straight shooter who told you like it is, a person who had a strong sense of justice and fair play.  She was a master at the art of hospitality and making people feel comfortable, well loved and taken care of.  Humble, loyal, kind and smart, she possessed this wonderful grounding influence and keen insight. I could turn to her for advice and support and I trusted her implicitly.  She made me laugh with her hilarious stories and made me see the world in a different light and I will greatly miss seeing her putter around in hers and Colleen's beloved kitchen as well as her amazing parties. I am in awe of Lisa and Colleen's beautiful relationship and my heart hurts deeply knowing that Lisa was taken away from Colleen the love of her life, her family and many friends and colleagues—all too soon. 
Lisa is deeply loved, respected and cherished by so many and she has made our world a better place. I pray that Colleen will find some measure of comfort in the wonderful memories they made together and in the many ways they touched so many lives. May Lisa rest in peace and I know she will be reunited with her loved ones and hers and Colleen's fur babies. Thank you, Lisa, for being you and for showing the rest of us how to live life well. Forever grateful to you and missing you so much.  Big comforting hugs to Colleen.

Just about a year ago I asked Lisa if she knew the whereabouts of Sammy the Seagull, her old friend while at the Marine Museum.  She'd lost track of him.  Now I'd like to believe they're reunited and flying together.  Lisa made it a pleasure to visit Metro Hall.  I always felt better after talking with her. She was full of compliments and would ask "Had I lost weight?" Even if I hadn't, I'd always feel lighter.  She was full of jokes and so nice to be around. You're the best, Lisa!

I hadn't known Lisa for very long but liked her right away.  She and Colleen became instant sisters when my brother and  his family met them and 'adopted' them.  We had road trips together but trips to Bobcaygeon were special because we got to go to Kawartha Dairy!  

I had the pleasure of working with Lisa for several years at the Marine Museum of Upper Canada. Her wry sense of humour and gift for colourful language and description kept us all laughing. Just when we needed it the most she would remind us not to take things too seriously. She was the first point of contact for most visitors to the Marine Museum and over and over again I saw her charm the people she met. It was a privilege to be her co-worker and count her as a friend. 

Lisa was one of the first people I met in the former THB. In those days we would bring the overnight groups from Fort York to the Marine Museum. I would sit and visit with Lisa until it was time to bring the group back. She had one of the best senses of humour of anyone I have ever met. It was always a pleasure to spend time with her. Once she moved to the Pier  and then other areas of the Division I would see less of her. Whenever I did she was always happy to see me. She was a kind caring loving person. I am sorry to hear of her passing.

Lisa started working at the Marine Museum a short time after I started working at Fort York, way back in 1989!  Oh she made me laugh!  We didn't spend much time together face to face, but she was always at the other end of the phone, ready with whatever was needed - support, understanding, or a joke.   Carrie, Lisa and I, what a team we were!  We even got to spend a few precious autumn weekends,  "Administrative Retreat Weekends" at my family cottage, which Lisa liked to call Shangri-La. I will never forget Lisa, at twilight, barbecuing salmon on the outdoor grill as a flock of Canada Geese suddenly appeared out of nowhere!  Beautiful!  Time passed, and for a while we shared an office at The Pier.  Now that was fun!  The mayor called in the army to deal with all that snow, and I Fosbury Flopped over a 4 foot snow drift so Lisa and I could get into the building! More years passed, jobs changed and through it all, Lisa was a wonderful friend and co-worker.   She was a beautiful, caring person, a friend to everyone who knew her.  I was honored to witness her 7/7/7 marriage to the lovely Colleen.  I was so happy that she had found such a wonderful life partner.  After she retired, I missed her SO much.  I am numb with disbelief that she is not with us anymore.  Love you Lisa, my buddy.

From backyard fundraisers to your wedding (and beyond); Lisa was always a sweet and kind person. I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s unbelievable that she is gone. We have a new angel watching over us. Hugs. 

Lisa ... I never had the chance to meet you however Colleen always spoke so lovingly of you.  Through her I know how special you were.  It was so nice to see Colleen so happy and in love.  May you rest in peace.


From the first time Colleen and Lisa started to date, I know Lisa was such a kind and gentle person. Rest in peace Lisa and know that Colleen will have such a support. As you watch over her and all her Boston's.

Colleen, you're an open and loving person who has enhanced the lives of many around you. Lisa too was  very special.  May she be resting in the beautiful, special resting place she deserves. I've no doubt she is there now. The two of you remain in my family's heart. Sending our warmth and well wishes to you. ❤🍃
