A Time to Say Goodbye – It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph (Joey) Iafrate, who, from the City of Toronto and at the age of seventy years old, departed this world for another on May 18, 2020.
Joseph was a true gentleman in all sense of the word, a music aficionado and gourmand with a love for fine wine and cognac. An architect by trade, Joey had a passion for buildings and design. He also enjoyed gardening, photography and art, reading magazines and the daily newspaper, and talking about travel and the weather. But most of all he loved his family, especially his four nephews – Robert, Ricky, Benjamin and Jeremy, whom he adored with all his might.
Joey will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. He is survived by his loving sister Angela and her husband Ralph Carnovale, along with their four children – Robert (Sonya), Ricky (Lisa-Marie), Benjamin (Amanda) and Jeremy (Samantha); Carlo, Mila and Elaina (great-nephew and great-nieces); and Jason (honourary nephew). He was preceded in death by his parents Giuseppe (Peppino) and Albina Iafrate, and twin baby sister.
In keeping with his nature and in order to respect physical distancing due to the global pandemic, funeral services are private and for immediate family only. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for your understanding during this difficult time.
Those who wish to honour Joseph’s memory or celebrate his life are welcome to raise a glass and share a salute with a loved one. Also, all are invited to post memories and final words to him on this website. A celebration of life ceremony for family and friends will be held at a future date.
“We go to the grave of a friend saying, “A man is dead,” but angels throng about him saying, “A man is born.”
