Mr. John McIntyre was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. He was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew him. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
He was the son of Lucie Doucet and Louis McIntyre. John grew up in Mountain Brook, Charlo, Dalhousie - New Brunswick.
John was raised with many siblings. John was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He worked and shared many experiences with his brother, many of these experiences were told for many years after.
Always considered a “good” friend to those he knew, John enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during his lifetime. John had many friends, but his best buddy was his brother Burt.
Empathic and loyal, John was committed to making his family happy.
John worked hard to be a good father to his one daughter, Debbie and he did his best to fulfill their needs.
Fortunately, John was gainfully employed for all of this working years. Showing a strong work ethic, John worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was Roofer. John always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
John enjoyed his leisure time, his favorite pursuits were cards and enjoying a cold beer. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Throughout his life, John was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. Throughout his later years, John was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
John’s faith was important to him. He was a member Eglise Sacre Coeur. During that time, he was a Knights of Columbus.
John enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included New Brunswick yearly. Also enjoyed his trip to Florida and Mexico.
John was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Harper, a Yorkshire Terrier. They were best friends for 13 years.
When John’s retirement finally arrived in mid 1990's, he was well prepared. In retirement, he found new pleasure in playing cards, bingo with the ladies and playing pool. Even in retirement, John continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. John was active in his new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered him.
John passed away on April 14, 2010 at St-Michael's Hospital. John fought a brave battle against many things, cancer, infections, kidney failure but he succumbed to his myopathy in the end, his lungs could no longer breath for him. He is survived by his wife, Bernice and daughter Debbie, his brothers, Leo, Albert, Jacques, deceased Maurice and Gordon, Sisters Nelly, Linda, Marilyne, Clairine, Jean and Mimi. Services were held at Sacre Coeur. John will be laid to rest in Charlo in the summer of 2010.
Simply stated, John was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. John leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Mr. John McIntyre.

Dear brother of Nellie (Aurelle Furlotte) Leo (Eva LeBlanc) Jean (Marcel Drapeau) Albert (Marielle Johnson) Marilyne (Medley Morin) Clairine (Leonel Gendron) Jacques (Hélène Roy) Linda (Paul Morin) Mimi (Conrad Carrier). Pre-deceased by his brothers Maurice and Gordon. Friends may call at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel 467 Sherbourne Street (south of Wellesley) on Friday April 16, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Eglise du Sacre-Coeur 381 Sherbourne Street on Saturday April 17, 2010 at 2:30p.m. (Parking adjacent to Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home).
