It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Jenkins on October 10, 2014 at the young age of 84. Deeply loved by his wife Margaret and children, Randy (Barb), Rick (Kathy) and Lori (Terry). Grandfather to Clint, Carrie, Shannon (Josh), Courtney, Jason, Samantha and Amanda. Great-grandfather to Blake and Kendal and loving brother and friend to many.
John was known greatly for his strong work ethic, brute strength and selfless acts of kindness throughout his lifetime. Whether a stranger stranded with a flat tire, a family member with a struggle or a neighbor with more grocery bags to carry than hands, John was the first to jump in and help. He seemed to always be there without being asked and never expected anything in return.
John spent many years volunteering time and enjoying the company and entertainment of many friends at the Canadian Legion 210 in Etobicoke. He was a well respected member and looked up to by many. He went out of his way to brighten the lives of others and provide company to those who needed it.
John, alongside his father, laid the cornerstone to a business that he continued to be proud of as he watched it grow and succeed. As many of the guys will contest to, you could not keep him away from the jobsites, even up until the week of his passing. He enjoyed the business he built and for that he will never be forgotten.
We would like to thank the extraordinary professionals at Sunnybrook Hospital who helped make John’s last days as comfortable as possible. On behalf of all John’s family, we are greatly appreciative.
Visitation will be held at Jerrett Funeral Home “ North York Chapel”, 6191 Yonge Street, Toronto (south of Steeles Avenue) on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation.
