Born in Nanaimo, British Columbia, she was interned with her family and other Canadians of Japanese descent at Slocan during World War II. After the war, the family relocated to the shores of Great Slave Lake, and later to Toronto where she met her husband of 61 years, Ian Ward Davis, on the playing field at Withrow Park. Predeceased by Ian in 2021, her in-laws Margaret (Jim), she will be deeply missed by her son Jefferson (Peggy), grandchildren Ian and Julia, brother Henry (Donna), as well as nieces and nephews in the Smith and Kozai families.
She was an avid cook who excelled at the cuisines from many different countries. She even baked dog biscuits with real bacon for grand-dog Elska. Right up to her passing, people marvelled at Jean’s lively personality and sharp memory. The holidays won’t be the same without her fabulous baking enthusiasm for this time of year. The family is grateful that Jean lived independently thanks to PSW support. Special thanks to Semhar for her excellent care.
