James Lawrence (Larry) Hickey, 83, of Toronto, died September 5, 2024, in Scarborough General Hospital, from complications due to renal cell cancer.
Larry was born on July 23, 1941. He was the oldest of 2 children born to James and Loretta Hickey in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Larry attended Danforth Technical School and in 1966 he joined the Toronto Fire Department where he worked for 30 years. He retired as a Fire Captain in 1997.
Larry is survived by his wife Dorothy, his son Derrick (Rachel) Hickey, his daughter Karen (David) Shearman, 3 granddaughters and 1 grandson. He is preceeded in death by his mother and father and younger brother Paul.
Larry’s remains will be interred at a private event and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sunnybrook Cancer Foundation.
