For those of you who haven't heard, Scott passed away on August 3, 2022. He died at home, eating one of his favourite foods: steak. Scott always said he'd likely die choking and he hoped that it would be on either lobster or steak--so he got that wish. He also wanted to die at home, and he didn't want to suffer or die of a long and painful illness--so he died the way he wanted--just too soon for all of us who loved him.
He was happy--he'd started going back into the world after being at home for so long due to Covid. He'd recently had new passport photos taken and was planning another cruise this coming winter--back to the Caribbean, a part of the world he loved dearly.
With the help of his attendants and his sister, many of his possessions and equipment are being donated to people with disabilities who are in need of many expensive and hard to find items: his accessible phones, his new bed, his ceiling lift, etc--so even in death Scott continues to serve the community as he did throughout his life and work.
His funeral/Celebration of Life will be on September 10, 2022 at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home at 467 Sherbourne St. Visitation from 12:00-1:00pm and his Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00pm, Officiated by Brent Hawke from MCC Church. The space is wheelchair accessible as is Sherbourne station. All are welcome and please wear your brightest colours and loudest and fluffiest boas. Scott would never want us to remember him in mournful and boring dark clothes--so wear your brightest colours and biggest hats and help us all remember how fortunate we are to have known, worked, and loved him.
There will be a brief obituary in The Star closer to the date of his funeral and donations are gratefully accepted by the MCC church or the dog guide's organization run by the Lion's club in Oakville. More information will be available soon on his obituary page. Thank you in advance for celebrating with us, he was a treasure, and will be greatly missed. Let's send him off with a fabulous celebration of love and gratitude.
