Isagani Fontillas, 78, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, passed away on July 21, 2022 due to complications from diabetes and congestive heart failure. The eldest of 9 children, Isagani was born on January 24, 1944, to Rosario R. Naungayan and Alejandro P. Fontillas in Zambales, Philippines. He graduated with a degree in B.S. Elementary Education at Magsaysay Memorial College. He started his first job at Pamatawan Elementary School as a teacher. After his teaching career, he landed a job at the National Census and Statistics Office.
In 1986, Isagani migrated to Canada. After several years, he was able to sponsor his parents and 3 of his youngest siblings to Canada. Most of his working years in Canada were spent as a machinist at Parker-Hannifin Corporation. Isagani retired from work in 2003.
Isagani’s favourite hobbies included fishing, listening to his favorite music, karaoke singing and visiting local casinos. He is a kind and generous person and is always willing to help other people in need.
Isagani was preceded in death by his mother, Rosario (2009) and his father, Alejandro (2011). He is survived by his brothers Dante and Enrico and his sisters Perla, Raquel, Leah, Venus, Sharon, and June.
Visitation will be held at St. Maria Goretti Parish Church at 717 Kennedy Rd in Scarborough on July 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at the church at 11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Duffin Meadow Cemetery, 2505 Brock Rd N, Pickering, ON L1X 0K3.
