The world lost a little of its sparkle on Sunday when our Mum passed. She was a woman of great resilience, overcoming the loss of her family as an adolescent and building a life and a family of her own. She learned that people need to work through problems, not around them, and she supported those around her in doing the same. Although a social person, the most important connections in her life were home, family and a small circle of close friends that she sustained for decades. Most of those have pre-deceased her, as did her father Oliver Charles "Harry" Broadstock, mother Alice Anne "Nancy", brothers Cliff and Jimmie, husband Salvatore "Sam" Furgiuele and many of her in-laws. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, her remaining dear friends and those who cared for her during her final years. We are very grateful for the exceptional care she received at the Chester Village LTC home, and from her personal caregivers Sandra and Maria. We all share funny, poignant and sometimes outrageous memories of a life fully and well lived.
Dear Mum. God bless.
To our family and friends:
Due to pandemic restrictions, a private funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00pm followed by a private interment at Westminster Cemetery on Friday at 11:00am.
For those of you who cannot attend these services in person, we would love to connect with you and see you as restrictions permit.
In lieu of flowers, Iris would have appreciated donations to MSF/Doctors without Borders, Salvation Army or Chester Village.
