At St. Michael’s Hospital on Tuesday December 7, 2010, in her 85th year. Helen Imogene Hood, dear sister of Eleanor (Nan) and her husband Bob Smith of Toronto and the late Dorothy Crosby. Loving aunt of Peter Smith of Birmingham Alabama and his family. Helen was born in Ottawa, and attended Lisgar Collegiate and graduated from McDonald College, McGill University with a B. Sc. (Home Economics). After interning at Toronto General Hospital, she rose to become Director of Nutrition and took an active part in her profession serving as President of the Canadian Dietetic Association in 1976-1977. She was the recipient of the Queen’s Medal in 1977. Helen was a member of the Zonta Club of Toronto 1 for 35 years, as well as an active member at the Church of the Messiah. Friends may call at the TRULL “NORTH TORONTO” FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 2704 Yonge St (5 blocks south of Lawrence Ave.) on Saturday from 12 noon until 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at 1:00 o’clock. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donation may be made to Moorlands Community Services, 250 Merton Ave. Toronto, On.
