George Butt

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Butt, who peacefully left us on April 2, 2025, at the age of 82, at Downsview Long Term Care in Toronto. Born on July 13, 1942, in Newfoundland, George was reunited with his beloved wife, Margaret, and their son Todd, who left us far too soon.

George and Margaret shared a beautiful life together, having been married since 1962. He was a loving father to Lynn (Dennis) Alan (Laura) and a devoted grandfather to Jamie, Adam, Christopher, Aimie, Justin, and Courtney. George’s love continued through his great-grandchildren, Lincoln and, Rowan who brought him immense joy.

A man of great warmth, George had a passion for cooking and loved hosting Sunday dinners, where family would gather around his table to enjoy his delicious home-cooked meals. He was also an avid sports fan, enjoying the Toronto Maple Leafs, and spending time playing cards with his siblings.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to the compassionate staff at Downsview Long Term Care, who treated our father with the utmost respect and care. Your kindness made a world of difference during his time there.

George’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, and he will forever be remembered with love.
