I only met your father once but was struck by his warmth and good humour.  The stories you've shared with me and the memories I've read on this website are a testament to what a special man he was and how lucky everyone was to know him.

I am deeply saddened by your loss.  I will always remember Uncle Edwin as a kind, gentle and caring person.  His subtle humour and stories always made me laugh. I am grateful I had the opportunity to meet him and share some time in his presence.

Uncle Edwin was my only paternal uncle. I didn't know him well because he moved to Canada when I was little and we lost touch. In later years, we reconnected, thanks to the visits of Don and Debra to Cape Town.

I am conscious of the fact that we are very few 'Solomons' left ... and his loss makes our family even smaller and the Solomons' even less.

We are all deeply saddened by the passing of Edwin, our dear friend and uncle. 
Our heartfelt condolences to all of you, as we share in your loss with love and friendship.

Edwin, Lorraine and the children were our neighbours in Fairways, Cape Town, South Africa for years - until the family immigrated to Canada in 1974. In the 1960s and early 70s, Fairways was a very small and close knit community.
Peter and I, in our relationship with Edwin and Lorraine, soon grew from more than simply being each other's neighbours - the four of us we were soon bonded in a true friendship - where we trusted, respected, appreciated and supported each other. Over the years we grew as close as family, and Edwin was Godfather to our eldest son, Gershom.
Edwin was a beautiful, gentle, warmhearted friend, the same as Lorraine, his dearest wife and lifelong companion. He beamed with love and pride around his family - always supportive and loving, as a father to Donovan and Tracy, father-in-law to Debra and grandfather to Xavier. Despite the thousands of miles between us, our lifelong friendship never floundered and continued to grow, always sharing many long chats and laughs - and even a few memorable visits to each other over the years.
We will always treasure Edwin's memory. May God give you all the strength and grace in this time of bereavement.

Tho the miles separated us, you were always in our thoughts.  You kind and good nature just radiated from your face. I will always see you smiling face, as in the photo. Rest well dear uncle and fly high with the Angel's.

Dear Aunty Lorraine, Donovan, Tracy, Xavier and Debra,

Your Dad's passing has sadden me greatly. 

He was a true gentleman. He was soft spoken and was an incredible listener.

I have many fond memories of the time I lived with Pa , Ma, Uncle Neville and Uncle Edwin.

I will treasure the times he would phone me in reply to a WhatsApp I sent him.

I take comfort in the fact that he is now resting in peace.

Although I grieve, I celebrate a life well lived.
