Christine Sherman

"A graveside ceremony for Christine Sherman (18 Feb 1949 - 28 Jan 2022) will be held on October 27 at 1pm -1:30 pm at St James Cemetery, 635 Parliament Street, Toronto. (Lot 15, Path #10 - West of St John Rd N). Sandra Millar from the Metropolitan Community Church will conduct the service. Meet in front of the office, just inside the Cemetery gates and a groundsman will escort everyone to the grave.

As a long time resident of Rekai Centre - Wellesley Central Place, Christine was a strong advocate for residents living in Long Term Care especially for those who identified as a 2SLGBTQI+ Community member. She was an active member of the Wellesley Central Residents Council and the Gender Sexuality Alliance. She also was a regular attendee and volunteer at The 519 Older 2SLGBTQ+ Adults Program and a regular attendee at the MCC (Metropolitan Community Church).

Christine was hospitalized with Covid in April 2020 and sadly never fully recovered after having several small strokes. The last year and a half of her life was spent at Bickel Centre Complex Continuing Care, where she received excellent care. She will be greatly missed. Thanks to all her care workers and deepest sympathies to her friends and family, especially to her cousin and close friend Lillian Powell."
