Annie was born in St. Philips Saskatchewan, she was the eldest of 8 children. She was raised in Kapuskasing, met Bill and married him in 1942. Daughter Mary Anne was born in 1943. Family moved to British Columbia for a few years and then back to Ontario where she lived the rest of her life.
Annie was a housewife for many years, she was a great cook, cabbage rolls and beet borscht were her Ukrainian dishes. She was a great baker, her short bread was delicious, Christmas cake fantastic, everyone asked for her apple pies. Annie took great pride in her home, it was always spotless.
In 1953 daughter Lynda was born.
Annie loved sports. As a young woman she was a sprinter, as an adult she played baseball, bowled, loved the Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs.
An avid gardener, her roses were beautiful and she took great pride in them, spent hours outside gardening and soaking up the sun.
Annie was a brownie leader.
When Lynda was 15 she got Annie a job at Woolworths working on the snack bar, she loved the job. She did get into trouble because she put too many scoops of ice cream in the milk shakes, the kids flocked to the snack bar because the shakes were so good.
Later Annie worked for Blue Cross, was an excellent worker, loved her job, was always punctual, never sick and made great friends.
Annie retired from Blue Cross and spent a great deal of time with her 7 grandsons, baby sitting and supporting them at all their sporting events.
Annie was always very healthy, unfortunately in 2010 she broke her hip, she recuperated well but it was discovered she had Dementia. Her memory has been very poor in the last 5 years.
In 2013 she and Bill sold their house and moved into an apartment at the front of Lynda’s house with a live in caregiver.
Three weeks ago Annie suffered a stroke which left her with left sided weakness.
Annie passed away quietly and peacefully in her home just as she would have wanted.
