Dear Rocco, Carmela and Nick,

Our family, like yours, has dedicated years of our lives to volunteer for Tennis Canada and, because of that, we had the privilege to meet many special people, individuals like yourselves and Anne Marie, who started as a rookie in ball crew the same year as my son John. He has many photos and memories of your beautiful daughter and was devastated, as we all were, when we found out of her tragic passing.  As a parent, I know there are no words that can ever bring solace to your souls and that is why it is so hard to express anything meaningful in these circumstances. We are also out of the country at the moment, so we weren't able to be there in person to give you a hug, but please know that not one day goes by without us thinking of you, and hoping that with time the memories you have created with Anne Marie in her 30 years of life will comfort you. 

She was a special daughter and sister.  She is now a special Angel.

We are truly heartbroken over the loss of your beautiful Anne Marie.   Every life has an impact on everyone, and your daughter/sister  Anne Marie  certainly touched so many lives.  It is sad to know that she will no longer be with us physically to shine that light on everyone, but know that she is someone that will be forever remembered and loved. From the first time, my best friend Mary Romualdi(Torres) invited me into her home; her family became my family. Over the past thirty-five years that Mary and I have been friends, I have been privileged to watch her nieces and nephews grow and even to be born. Anne Marie was one of those nieces and nephews. I watched her grow up from a small child into a beautiful young woman with a beautiful smile and lovely heart, and so when I heard the sad and tragic news, it was as if a part of me were also ripped away. My heart aches for Carm, Rocco, Frances and Nick and also my dear, Mary, Nonna and the entire Romualdi and D'Amico families. Anne Marie's light shone brightly while she was with us and she touched many lives. Take comfort in knowing that her spirit will be with us always and the memories that we have of her will always endure.

I was absolutely immobilized when I first heard the news about Anne-Marie ... she was and is such a bright spirit who lit up the room (even the 'dungeon' at the Aviva Centre!) whenever and wherever I saw her. There are no words that can possibly describe the loss that I am feeling, that we are all feeling since our beautiful Anne Marie was taken away. It has been incredibly difficult not to be there to support your family, but please know that I have been mourning along with you every single day. The world has been forever changed. Anne Marie was a beacon of light and happiness in what sometimes feels like a dark world. The only things I enjoyed more than your warm hugs was your bright loving smile. My favorite memory was one of the times you visited us in NY we took you to a Yankee game. You wanted to eat something that the typical New Yorker eats to be a part of the culture. We got you a Nathan's hot dog and crinkle cut fries. I have never seen someone so happy over a hot dog and fries! Your smile went ear to ear while you enjoyed a simple hot dog. You appreciated all the little things life had to offer and I thank you for all the amazing memories we shared. I love you and will miss you always.

I am deeply saddened by this tragic loss.  My memories of Anne Marie as a young ball-girl are cherished as she had so much energy and character that resonated amongst the crew. It was clear that she had a captivating personality when you saw the large group of friends she easily made over the 9 amazing days of each summer.  She clearly grew up to be a wonderful person who will be so greatly missed. 

Nick – I am so sorry.  She followed in your footsteps through ballcrew and turned out to be a really great girl.  I know you were proud of her as we all were to see another D’Amico in the crew.  I am here for you if you ever need someone to talk about the good times with.  

There is no possibly way to put the feeling that I have into words.  No parent or family should ever have to go though this with someone so young.  You are all in my mind and in my heart in this difficult time.
