Beloved wife of the late Raymond Maurice Homewood, dear mother of John and Dorothy Homewood of Calgary, Gillian (Cameron) and Dennis Brown of Oshawa, and Ray and Diane Homewood of Listowel, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Amy was born in Hamilton and spent her formative years in China, returning to Canada to finish high school and enter nursing training at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. Amy completed her Bachelor of Nursing Science at the University of Western Ontario specializing in public health nursing. Nursing remained an important part of her ministry as a Salvation Army officer and continued beyond her official retirement.
Amy was commissioned as a Salvation Army Officer in 1954 and married Captain Ray Homewood in 1955. Ray and Amy then spent many years in international appointments in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
In retirement, Amy lived in Cambridge, London, Toronto, and finally settled in Listowel. Wherever she was, Amy was content in the hands of the Lord she loved. She enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family who were able to be around her to the very end.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to the Listowel Salvation Army Family Services, an organization Amy stood proudly for or a Charity of your choice.
