Artist, teacher, mother, grandmother, and friend, Veronica ("Ronnie") was born in Brooklyn NY, and died peacefully at home in Ann Arbor MI.
An accomplished artist, Veronica’s talent was obvious from an early age. She attended WPA art workshops in the New York City parks as a child, graduated from the prestigious High School of Music and Art in Manhattan, and then Hunter College with a Bachelor of Arts. Following one year teaching second grade at St. Francis Cabrini grade school in Fairless Hills PA, Veronica taught art and headed the art departments at Bishop Conwell High School and later, Bishop Egan High School, in Bucks County PA for 27 years. She gave her talents and time freely to her many students, her church, and her family and friends, from creating Christmas artwork for her parish church, to teaching English to recent immigrants, to sewing for children in hospitals and shelters. Always willing to lend a hand or a shoulder to lean on, Veronica was a beloved friend and grandmother. As evidence of her generous nature and loving heart, Veronica had nearly as many ‘honorary’ nieces, grand-nieces and -nephews, and grandchildren as actual ones. Veronica is survived by her sons Rob (Laura), Jim (Kitty), daughters Catherine, and Betsy (Fred), her nine beloved grandchildren, her many nieces and nephews, and several lifelong friends, She will be missed by all who knew her.
