Travis Lowery was born in Texas in 1932. He moved to New York when he was 14 and lived with his sister Elaine. At 18 he joined the Army. he had tours in Japan, Korea, Germany. On a visit home he met and married my mother, Anna, after a short courtship. He got orders to go to Germany, while there, I was added to the family. We loved living in Germany, we were able to travel throughout Europe. He served 21 years in the Army and after retiring we moved to Brooklyn, NY. He then worked for the New York Telephone Company for 20 years. He moved to Toms River a few years after retiring from the phone company. He enjoyed retirement and met many wonderful people and made great friends. We lost my mom in 2015. The friends he made helped him through the loss. He passed May 26th in the comfort of his home. He will be missed by my family, daughter Ann Lara, son in law Anthony Lara, granddaughter Brittany Lara and granddaughter Briana Lara. My dad, Travis, was a very patriotic man. He loved serving in the Army. He believed in working hard. He loved reading and learning and history. He was the best dad. We always had a special bond. Loved taking walks and talking. We spoke every night to see how our days went and say goodnight. He also had a great sense of humor and a great smile. He was blessed with many friends. In his final days he was surrounded with friends and family everyday. He will have full military honors at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. On Friday, June 14, 2019.
