Shirley was a loving, vibrant, intelligent woman. She loved her family, especially her grandkids, Michael, Lexie, Ariel, Ben, and Connor. She was a person who made friends easily and kept them for life. She valued her independence and lived in her own home in Toms River New Jersey until well into her 90’s.
Born in Scranton Pennsylvania, as a young woman she lived in New York City for a time. She married her life partner, Ed Robinson and they eventually moved to Spotswood New Jersey where they raised and loved their three children Laurie, Jeff and Ed. Throughout their time together they also lived in upstate New York near Rochester, as well as East Brunswick and Toms River New Jersey. Toward the end of her life, she moved to South Carolina to be near her daughter Laurie and her family.
Shirley was active in the church throughout her life, especially during her time in Toms River where she was the treasurer of her church for many years. She was famous for nearly singlehandedly organizing and cooking a huge Irish corned beef and cabbage dinner each year and helped with many other church events. She loved to swim and to be at the beach or the pool. She also loved to knit, and had an amazing green thumb, especially with African violets. She loved animals, especially her dog Sheba.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Ed, her parents William and Sadie, her brother Billy, and sister Jean. She is survived by her three children and their spouses and her five grandchildren.
We will all miss her humor, sharp wit and zest for life!
