Rose George (nee Alfieri) born 11/27/1930 on Thanksgiving Day, age 92, peacefully entered into eternal life October 20, 2023. Born in East Orange to Italian Immigrant parents, she was part of a big family. Rose worked for Bamberger's early after high school and performed in the Bamberger Thanksgiving day parade. She met her love Benjamin George in the neighborhood and married in 1953 until his death in January 2017. They moved to Cranford in 1961 and raised their 4 children, Barbara, Ben (wife Robyn), Rich (wife Anne) Jeannie (husband Mark) .
While raising her kids in Cranford she was an amazing mother who always was cooking up a big italian meal, hosting large family dinners and parties. As a lover of sports, she attended all of her kids sporting events over the years and coached girls softball in town. She worked for Ketchum Pharmaceutical in Cranford while juggling family life. She was blessed with 8 Grandchildren, Dina, Jessica, Ryan, Jennetta, Nicholas, Zachary, John, and Jillian, and 2 Great Grandchildren, Haley and David. Rose and Ben retired in 1989 moving to Holiday city South in Toms River where they were involved in many activities. Rose loved to crochet and do arts and crafts. They loved to travel and tour with their group of friends. Rose loved to play Mahjong and many other games teaching the grandkids card games throughout the years, always winning with her sharp mind. She will be missed by her loved ones.
A funeral mass will be held at St Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church 130 St. Maximilian Ln, Toms River, Friday October 27th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association https://pages.heart.org/heartsem_v1
