He served in the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Randolph, whose anchor is proudly displayed in Toms River, NJ.
Paul married the love of his life Gertrude (Bunny) Hickey on September 13th , 1952. They had a wonderful life in Shelter Cove, Toms River with their 4 children.
Paul worked hard to provide for his family. Notably he worked for Lakehurst Naval Air Station & retired from Ciba-Geigy. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 4969, member of East Dover Fire Co. and a communicant of St. Joseph’s RC Church.
He is predeceased by his parents, sister Jean Dean, brothers James & Frank Connerton & beloved granddaughter Kelly Marie Smith.
Paul is survived by his children Debra (Lyle) Smith, Colleen Dooley, Paul (Sandy) Connerton and Thomas Connerton, grandchildren: Meghan, Elizabeth, Kyren, Sarah, Caitlin, Nicole , Paula Kay, Ryan, Tommy, Shannon, Leanne, Paul and fifteen great grandchildren and countless extended family & friends.
Paul enjoyed the simple joys of life, being with family, country music, Indy racing, the Dallas Cowboys, the Fighting Irish and his favorite band, White Rabbit. Paul will be remembered always for his love of family and generous spirit, as he would give to all.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, July 3rd at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River.
