Marie Claire Cerino

Marie Claire Cerino, age 90, passed away, on April 16, 2022. In death, she was surrounded by friends and family. Marie was born on April 17, 1931 in Paterson, NJ to Andrew and Mary (Reiner) Ruyzam. She graduated from Central High School in Paterson, NJ. Marie married Norman Remo Cerino on June 30, 1951, and together they had a daughter and three sons.

At the height of her career, Marie was the Treasurer/Tax Collector and Municipal CFO for the towns of Haledon and Hawthorne. She was a resident of Haledon, NJ for 64 years before retiring to Toms River, and ultimately residing at the Pines in Whiting.

Marie enjoyed foreign travel, but her favorite past time was visiting with friends and family on the porch of her shore house in Belmar, NJ. She started drawing as a child, and discovered oil painting as a teen. Marie continued to pursue her love of art, applied her talent to watercolor, and became an accomplished artist in several mediums.

Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband Norman, son Garry and daughter Karen. She is survived by sons Michael (Nicole), Barry (Linda), daughter in-law Lynda; seven grandchildren, Kristin (Brian), Jamie (Joe), Ashley (Stuart), Bryan, Carrie Ann (Alexi), Layne and Blair; and eight great grandchildren

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28th from 10:00-12:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 11:30 am at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. Following the service Marie will be buried at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Paterson, NJ.
