Joseph V. Monticello, 81, of Toms River died on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Madison Care Center in Matawan. Born on March 17, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to Ralph and Agatha Monticello, he resided in Brooklyn before moving to Toms River 24 years ago.
Mr. Monticello was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a motorman for New York Transit in New York City for more than 20 years before his retirement in 1986. He was also a member of the Holiday City VFW Post 10185 in Toms River.
Mr. Monticello was predeceased by his wife, Mary Monticello in 2000 and his daughter, Joanne Farraye in 2006. He is survived by his daughter, Janet Leahy and her husband Matthew of Marlboro and his five grandchildren; Krystina, Alyssa, Jessica, Michael and Anthony.
Visitation will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30AM at the St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church in Toms River. Interment will follow in Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River.
