John A. Mitchell, 82, of Toms River, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at home peacefully with the support of his loving family. Born in Trenton, he grew up in Frenchtown, and was stationed in Birmingham, AL, moving to Toms River in 1953. John worked for Ciba Geigy in Toms River for 45 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of The Church of Grace and Peace in Toms River and an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. With his woodworking talent, he enjoyed making furniture, especially cradles for his daughter’s children. He also had a passion for working in his yard and loved his John Deere tractor.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 61 years, Emma (McGuire) Mitchell; his children Cynthia D. Crickenberger and her husband Sam of Middlebrook, VA, Merrilyn G. Livingston and her husband Earle of Toms River and John B. Mitchell and his wife Mary of Lanoka Harbor; four grandchildren Grace and Asa Crickenberger and Taylor and Molly Livingston; and his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Grace and Peace,1563 Old Freehold Rd., Toms River. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C.
