Jesus, who went by Oct, was born in Cali Colombia on December 25, 1947. He was the second youngest of 5 children. In 1959, at the age 11, he and his siblings moved to the United States where they grew up in Garden City, New York. Oct graduated from Garden City High School in 1964. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1968 and served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1971. He married the love of his life, Denise in 1989 and together they raised their daughter, Brittania in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. He worked for the International Longshoremen’s Association for 26 years before retiring and moving to South Jersey. Oct was an avid fisherman and a family man. If he wasn’t fishing, he was spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters, who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his wife Denise, daughter Brittania and her husband Steve, and granddaughters Francesca and Angelina. He is also survived by his sisters Cristina, Amparo and Blanca and his brother Alfonso along with many nieces and nephews.
Service will be held on Saturday, December 3rd from 1-4 pm at the Quinn Hopping funeral home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ
