James H. Tava, 60, of Toms River, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Newark, he was a resident of Toms River for over 20 years. James owned and operated the Speed Pitch concession stand at Casino Pier in Seaside Heights for many years. He had a passion and fascination for airplanes, especially from WW II and enjoyed building models and collecting all his favorite planes. James loved being with his family and will be dearly missed.
He was predeceased by his father, James E. Tava in 2012. He is survived by his loving children, Chris Tava and his wife Genese and Gina Tava; his beloved mother, Julia Tava; his sister, Linda Tava; two brothers, Eugene Tava and his wife Janet and Wayne Tava and his wife Sammi; and his cherished grandchildren, Eric, Shaun, Elijah, Brionna, Maleah and Natalia.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 until the prayer service at 8 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Interment will be private. Condolences may be made by visiting www.andersonandcampbell.com.
