James Francis Bratcher

Born in Brooklyn, he resided there for most of his life before settling in the Holiday City community of Toms River 31 years ago.

Prior to retiring, he worked in customer relations for Tubular Textiles in Queens, NY. His first job, however, was in Coney Island, NY, where he worked with his father on the parachute jump. He often needed to ride alongside guests who were too nervous to ride alone.

As a teenager, he joined the Merchant Marines, which led him to enlist in the US Navy. James honorably served our country in the Navy during World War II, where he was a Radio Seaman First Class and was stationed on the S.S. Palau.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Rose, in 2015.

Surviving are his children: James Bratcher, Jr. and his wife Debbie, and Siobhan Barry-Bratcher; two grandchildren: Clarence Ferrari and his wife Kimberlee, and James Scott Bratcher; a great-granddaughter, Alice Rose Ferrari; and two half-sisters, Barbara Faubert and Mary Bardin.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 4-8PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 10AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River. Interment will immediately follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.
