Gloria Edith Reeves Cranston of Toms River, passed away at home on September 20, 2022 at the ae of 94. She was born on December 5, 1927 in Dover Kent, England. She grew up during World War II and met her first husband who was part of the 101st Airborne.
She loved talking about the White Cliffs of Dover and spending time with her brother, Kenny. One of her fondest memories was attending a New Year’s Party with her father that was held inside the Dover Castle. As a war bride she came through Ellis Island in 1946 after traveling five days on the S.S. Saturnia and eventually became a U.S. citizen. She enjoyed raising her four children in New Jersey, while still being able to occasionally return to England to visit with her family.
Gloria proudly worked multiple jobs to help support her family and eventually ended up working as a supervisor at The First National Bank of Toms River until her retirement. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with friends and family over a cup of tea. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Claude B. Reeves and her second husband, John Cranston. She is survived by her four children, Lynda Donnelly and her husband Robert of Whiting, NJ, Alan Reeves and his wife Becky of Manahawkin, NJ, Michael Reeves and his wife Nancy of Beachwood, NJ and Claudia Matthews and her husband Gregory of Toms River, NJ, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 2-5pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River.
