Gertrude A. “Trudy” Esposito, 92, of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday November 22, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Richmond Hill, NY, Gertrude lived in Queens Village, NY and Toms River, NJ, with her beloved husband, Neil, before moving to Lancaster in 2019 to reside at Woodcrest Villas. Prior to her marriage and the birth of her first child, Gertrude was a Purchasing Agent for E.R. Squibb in Brooklyn, NY.
In her younger days, Trudy was active in the Girl Scouts of America and the Rosary Altar Society. After moving to Toms River, she served as an Altar Society volunteer and Eucharistic Minister at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church in Toms River. She enjoyed visiting with members of the parish who were confined to their homes. For more than 15 years, she volunteered in the radiology department of Community General Hospital in Toms River.
She was a backgammon enthusiast, always ready to play until she won more games than she lost. An avid reader, mysteries were her favorite genre. She loved baseball, particularly when her Yankees were on a winning streak but even when they were not. Her recall of baseball stats and classic movie plots was phenomenal. She rooted for the Notre Dame football team whenever they played. She took pride in the accomplishments of her family, and always enjoyed socializing with friends and neighbors.
Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Neil in 1998 and is survived by her daughters Pat Bruce (Bob) and Gerry Fedoronko (Fred); her grandchildren Lauren Bain (Greg) and Mark Fedoronko.
