Fred Peruggia, 83, of Berkeley Twp., NJ died on Tuesday March 1st at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he moved to Staten Island in 1962 and lived there until moving to Holiday City South in Berkeley Township in 2003. Fred was a plant manager at Glissen Chemical Inc. in Brooklyn, NY for 42 years and then worked as a school bus driver for Atlantic Express in Staten Island for 7 years. He was a Charter Member and Third Degree Knight of the K Of C Madonna Council #5915 at Holy Rosary RCC in Staten Island. He was a member of the Italian American National Hall of Fame and communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church in Toms River.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theresa nee Scotto; a daughter, Leona Monforte of East Meadow, LI; two sons, Fred and his wife Cathy Peruggia of Middletown, NJ and Michael and his wife Diane Peruggia of Staten Island. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ, 08755. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 4th, at 9:30 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe RCC, Toms River. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
